That is one reason why over the years, there have been so many third-party applications and plug-ins for doing those things. Two of the most important aspects of the print engine of any imaging editing or printing application are its resizing algorithms and its sharpening algorithms. I would keep it as simple as possible for starters: edit and print from Capture One. *FWIW, for years I printed from Lightroom, but have more recently started printing from Qimage Ultimate. If you don't soft-proof and tweak, then I'd just export in the working space (with ProPhoto RGB being the best of those). If you do soft-proof and tweak accordingly, then IMO you probably ought to export in the printing profile, using the rendering intent you prefer plus black-point compensation (or not).

IMO, generally speaking, if you print from Print Studio Pro (or Qimage or any software other than what you've used to edit the image), then whether you should export from Capture One (or whatever image editor) in ProPhoto RGB (or another working space like Adobe RGB or sRGB) or the profile for your intended printer + driver settings + ink + paper combination depends on whether you soft-proofed and made edits thereafter to get the print as close to what you want as you can reasonably achieve. But you probably should experiment for yourself at least a little, and see which you prefer. I've never printed from either Capture One or Canon Print Studio Pro.* A common view seems to be that Capture One's printing capabilities are fairly limited and Print Studio Pro's are pretty good. If #2 is the better option (export and print), do I apply the print profile on export from capture one (which changes the image look), when I export and when I print (so in both applications), or only in the export or only in the print app? The export side seems to make sense as it allows you to edit the modified look before you print but I wanted to be sure. Which of the above is the better option?Ģ.
